I just moved to an area near Berkley, CA and I was excited to be part of a diversified, open, and environmentally conscious community…that was at least until my experience in Amanda’s.  Amanda’s is a restaurant that is part of a Eat Well Berkley campaign and its all about eating health, recycling, and living well…so California.  The food was good, and the concept is great, but I will still not return. 

I had lunch there this afternoon and as my boyfriend and me where enjoying our lunch a handicapped gentleman entered.  He headed striate towards the back (which means he could have already been there before) and returned to the front counter within minutes, he then asked to use the bathroom apparently they where locked and one of the clerks (white male in early 30s with thinning hair) told him it was for customers only.   Errrr did I just hear that or am I dreaming, I am in Berkley, the guy is handicapped which means its not easy for him to get around and find other bathrooms, and I am in a “proud” to help the world establishment.  I think you, I , and the rest of the world would agree that handicaps have card blanc when it comes to a lot of things especially using the facilities.  Shoot I think that when it comes to going to the bathroom and asking for a glass of water…you have to be one big freak’n a-hole to deny it to anyone.

Is it true, are people only nice until you ask then to do something that is not with in their comfort zone or better yet, best interest.  Is this going green and save the plant just a facade and money making scheme.  We pay more for organic food and products and everyone including McDonalds the world’s most unhealthy synthetic food chain is “go green”.  

I don’t think we can save the world if we can not change ourselves first and having a-holes living among us.  We have all seen the You-Tube videos of people dying in hospital ER rooms and no one to assist.  They just lie there for hours, die until someone needs to mop the area do they acknowledges that that person is dead.  How about that kid that got beaten to death at a fast food joint and no one stepped in…I guess the a-hole behide that counter also said I only help paying customers and that kid did not order yet…no da he got killed before he even got to the counter.  We are worst then animals, at least animals act on instinct and we rationales our decisions and actions by mind fucking ourselves to believe that we are great and worthy of a great quality of life.

Call me crazy but I rather live in a less “green” world if I could live in a more “pink” one where people actual care and do not have a hidden selfish agenda.
